Problem oriented information

Deze informatie is op dit moment alleen beschikbaar in het Engels. Excuses voor het ongemak

The other pages of this website are solution oriented. In case you have a certain problem that needs to be solved and only want to know if such a problem could be solved by Launch IT, without having to get into technical details yourself, this page is what you are looking for. Below is a list of problem examples that Launch IT can perfectly solve.

Controlling an electronic parameter
You have a value that should gradually rise or drop to certain values, or follow another value. For example a thermostat or a power regulation. It should never exceed over a certain value or never become lower than another value.

Reacting to events
You might have a sensor that measures a certain value. If the value measures a certain value, a certain reaction should occur immediatly.

Operation of a complex machine
You have a machine that can be operated manually, by pulling certain switches in an order that is described in a manual. You would like to have this done automatically and would like to be able to monitor the status of the machine.

Collecting data for research
You have an experimental setup which you are using to prove certain theories. You are measuring several parameters, that will later analyze in a mathematical program. Ofcourse you could write down parameters down manually, on certain intervals, but it would be ideal to have these values stored automatically, including information on the time the data has been collected.

Monitoring access to a building or room
You would like to be able to know who is in a room and who is not. Maybe you would like to store information in a table for later reference on the access information and be able to view that information on a website anywhere in the world. Examples:

  • Logging absense of students
  • Tracing the route people walk through a building

Inspecting products
You are the manufacturer of mass produced products. Currently someone in your plant takes a sample once in a while and checks the quality. Actually you would like to check all products while they are being produced and have wrong products automatically be thrashed. Examples:

  • Inspection of parts with 2D or 3D cameras
  • Metal detection, e.g. in food
  • Food portioning
  • Sorting products, based on color, shape or quality

More functionality wished
You have bought software that did what it needed to do, several years ago. You have some new functions in mind and want to know if these can be built into your current system.

  • Converting an old DOS application to a Windows or web application
  • More in and outputs, or more actuators
  • Enhance existing software, e.g. more speed, less errors, more user friendly, etc.

Doubts on third party software
You bought or odered custom made software from a software developer, or you have hired a software engineer employee. You are not certain if what the developer is promising you will really work and if the price and development time is fair and realistic. Maybe the developer is doing much more that you need, or is forgetting about certain important issues in the specification you have in mind. You need an objective opinion on the work in progress and would like to have both design and software checked in detail.

A software problem that cannot be fixed
The software you have bought or developed has a bug somewhere, but it seems you keep looking over it and cannot find the source of the problem. However, it needs to be fixed on short terms.

Two devices need to talk to eachother
You have two devices in mind that could solve a task together, but for that they would have to be able to exchange information. Unfortunately you cannot just connect the with some cable to get it done, because the devices use a different protocol.

Not sure if this idea will work...
You have an idea in mind for a product that could be a great success. If only you could test this idea in a prototype, or have a demo that you could use to convince others with. You would need some software or electronics to have that done.

Software peaks
Your company is specialised in a technical branche, but once in a while, peaks on software development occur. In those times, you would need someone to be onsite regularly to support you handling these peaks.

Simulation
You have a certain process that you are planning on changing or controlling. Experimenting with the actual process is not possible or even dangerous. Software that simulates the process, so you could test several parameters in a safe way, would be ideal.

Engineer gone and no documentation...
One of your engineers has left, having never written down anything about his or her work. There is some source code and some devices, but you cannot get it working again. Maybe your previous colleague used old hardware. If only you had a manual about this code, or someone could get this stuff working again...

Made a start myself but need this to be made into a product
Maybe you have done some experimenting with a programming language, which resulted in a prototype. You feel this could become a succesful product, if only it would be profesionalized.

Training
You have engineers in your company who are able of software engineering, but they achieve more if they had some extra training from a professional software engineer or could ask for some extra help once in a while.

Monitoring
In your process there are several important parameters that are measured regularly. If you could store these in a central place so that they could be monitored, you would be able to find bottlenecks in the production, or e.g. be alarmed if certain parameters are too high or too low.
